Poland TechMatch event in Palo Alto

June 2014 - For one afternoon Palo Alto was hosting the Poland Demo Event at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati offices. Poland, is turning Silicon Valley and San Francisco on its ear by bringing more and more startups & established companies to the area, is continuing the effort to do so. The government in Poland has already launched two programs whose main goals are to promote Polish companies by bringing them to the global market and the announcement of the next Polish Silicon Bridge starting this summer.

On Thursday, June 26 Ms. Grazyna Henclewska, Under-Secretary of State and Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Poland opened the Poland Demo Event. She pointed out that Polish IT/ITC sector is rapidly growing and Polish companies are getting more visibility in both Silicon Valley and Europe. The week before the event, the Polish team won the First Computer Coding Championship held in Finland. A similar program for Polish tech companies will be run in both Shanghai and England. Ms Henclewska announced the new Polish Silicon Bridge program. It has been launched by the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development in cooperation with Polish Silicon Valley Accelerator Center and US-Mac in San Francisco. The Minister was accompanied with Justyna Gorzoch, from Department of Innovation and Industry from Poland, and Pawel Pietrasienski, Minister Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland. At the Polish Demo Day, there were also representative officials from countries that are geographical neighbors of Poland: Richard Pivnicka, Czech Republic’s Honorary Consul General, and Peter Kmec, Ambassador of Slovakia.

The companies at the event each had a few minutes to give a short presentation followed by table discussions and demos set up for the evening’s reception. The reception had an enthusiastic crowd that was free to interact with the founders and gain more details and go “in-depth” by raising further questions about their products and services that were shown in the presentation.

BeeeBaaa built the complete eco-system, which automates the workflow and unites the music industry.

4. Autoplug.in

Autoplug is a small hardware device that informs you about the problems taking place in your vehicle. Autoplug will incessantly monitor the computer in your car while driving. If you have any problems with the engine or other systems, Autoplug will immediately inform you about them. This way customers are able to get an accurate description of the problem and read Autoplug’s analysis on how to fix it.

Companies at the "TechMatch” program

1. Amodit

AMODIT is an innovative workflow system, which implements patent-pending method of adaptive modeling of workflows. Using artificial intelligence techniques of dynamic dataflow analysis and prediction of user behavior dramatically reduces costs of deployment. System currently has 4 language versions: English, Polish, German and Arabic.

2. Enspirion / ENERGA group

Enspirion the first company in Poland providing services of aggregation and management of electricity demand reduction (Demand Response). Enspirion is part of the Energa Group. The main area of activity for Enspirion is the Demand Response service, which supports stability of the National Energy System and thus maintains continuity of electricity supply to the market.

3. Enteye

Enteye is a Platform as a Service providing all tools and hardware infrastructure for deploying Internet of Things devices based on microcomputers of commercial or custom design with embedded linux on board. The motto of the company is: “It's extremely simple, it's time saving, it's efficient - it's for everyone”. Enteye platform has FREE version for developers, device software code is open source, all in one solution that enable businesses, developers and hobbyists to create your own device, connect it to the internet, monitor it's health status in real time and full remote control with reactive communications

4. KanBo/ObjectConnect

KanBo combines the elements of Kanban with Socialcomm (Web 2.0 social way of communication) and the very best of Microsoft SharePoint. KanBo visualizes the flow of work inside of organizations and helps them to get the work done in a sustained manner.

5. Pixel Technology

Pixel Technology specializes in applying informatics in medicine. Company provides solutions designed for radiology as well as the use of public administration. We have provided solutions to over a hundred radiological laboratories in Poland. In our headquarters in Lodz we have dozen of high-class professionals creating software, providing support services and leading sales of our services.

6. Quantum Lab

Quantum Lab wants to teach computers how people feel by tracking measuring and analyzing emotions and moods using different methods and technologies based on science and psychology. Our primary product, Facial Expression Recognition System (Xpress Engine), allows to read peoples emotional response from their facial expressions using any modern device with a camera. In the end, we get emotional metadata represented as a graph.

7. Robotics Inventions

Robotics Inventions is a New Product Development company delivering in 6 months preproduction prototypes (including Bill of Material), excelling in fully- and semi-autonomous robots, vision systems, the autonomy module RI SPIRIT, the robot swarm management system RI FLEET, innovative user interfaces and various components, having a dedicated production facility, as well as the robotics professional services.

While the event in Palo Alto was focused on IT technology, it is not the only sector that Poland has bringing to the world and is proud of it. The Minister Henclewska just last week was a patron for strong polish presence at the Bio International Convention in San Diego, the global event for Biotechnology industry. Poland has a strong presence in this space as well , and activity is ramping for the global market.
